Words From The Father - Pastor Chris Oyakhilome

April 06, 2016

It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life (John 6:63).

The Lord Jesus was a master of words; He had, and spoke, wisdom all the time. He was wisdom personified. He knew exactly the right words to say in every situation, to everyone, and concerning everything. His words were filled with inspiration, healing, comfort, hope, love, and power. He had words for everything. Imagine what transpired in Luke 7:11-17. He was on a journey to the city of Nain, and as He arrived at the gate of the City, He saw a funeral procession of a young man, who happened to be the only son of a widow. Moved with compassion, He touched the casket and said, "…Young man, I say unto thee, Arise. And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak. And he delivered him to his mother" (Luke 7:13-15). He raised the dead body of that young man back to life with words!
Once, His disciples were startled amidst a raging tempest. Terrified, they cried out to Him, "…Master, carest thou not that we perish?" (Mark 4:38). What He did was remarkable: "…he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm" (Mark 4:39). It made no difference how turbulent or tempestuous the weather was, Jesus hushed it with words—the same way He healed and restored sight to blind eyes, hearing to deaf ears, and vitality to maimed limbs.
However, He reveals to us an important truth: the words He spoke came from the Father. He said in John 12:50, "…whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak." It’s the same with us today. The Father has given us words to speak; we don’t, and shouldn’t, speak our own words, or words that we learnt from our neighbours or environment! We learn words from the Word of God; we get our spiritual vocabulary from the Word of God. That’s why you have to keep studying the Scriptures (2 Timothy 2:15).
The result is that you’ll think and talk like Jesus, and have His kind of extraordinary results! You’ll become a master of words, speaking wisdom all the time.
Confession
My words are spirit, and life, infused with power and divine energy to prevail over circumstances. The words of Christ dwell in me richly, in all wisdom; therefore, my words are filled with inspiration, healing, comfort, hope, love, and power, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
