WHEN GOD DECIDES A MATTER - Michelle McKinney Hammond
[Joseph said,] “It is just as I said to Pharaoh: God has shown Pharaoh what he is about to do…The reason the dream was given to Pharaoh in two forms is that the matter has been firmly decided by God, and God will do it soon.” - GENESIS 41:28,32
God will always confirm His Word. What we must do is be still long enough to get clarity on exactly what He is saying to us. Sometimes we get carried off on a whim of our own that ends in a mess. Then the famous question is asked: “What did God speak to you about this situation?” We realize with a sinking feeling that we had dreamed a dream and run off on our own without checking with God.
Our enemy, the devil, loves to give us dreams—to whisper things in our minds that seem good. And sometimes he even sounds like a messenger from God. But be careful. Wait for the confirmation of the Holy Spirit, who will give you confidence and perfect peace if the dream is from God.
The words in today’s verses to pay special attention to are “the matter has been firmly decided by God, and God will do it soon.” Note it’s not what Pharaoh would do. It’s what God will do. In our lives, it’s not what we will do. It’s what God will do. If we are muscling through to make our dreams happen, manipulating events and individuals, we are deceived. That is not God. That is a dream of our own making.
