WALKING WITH GOD - Michelle McKinney Hammond

March 30, 2016
Enoch walked with God; then he was no more, because God took him away. - GENESIS 5:24
Birds of a feather flock together. The concept that we become like the people we hang out with has been proven time and time again. In Ghana, West Africa, when a couple is courting, they say they are “walking together.” Have you ever noticed that when married couples have been together for a while they begin to look alike? This is the epitome of becoming one. They get to the place where they can finish each other’s sentences and anticipate each other’s desires.
Something happens when we walk with God. The exchange between us becomes more and more intimate. We come to a place of divine intimacy, where we lose more and more of ourselves and take on more and more of His traits and heart. If we truly want to get to the place where we echo the sentiments of Paul and declare, “It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me,” we must be willing to take the time to press into the heart of God.
Have you ever had such a great conversation with someone that it was hard to end the exchange? I can only imagine the conversation that day between Enoch and God on the day God took him to heaven. Whatever they were talking about, obviously neither one wanted their time together to end. I’m sure that this man who sought God and prophesied to his neighbors left a lasting impression with all whom he encountered. Perhaps after he departed many people chose to walk the same trail, seeking God for themselves.
What is your alone time with God like?
PRAY THIS PRAYER WITH ME:
“Dear heavenly Father, I want to be one with You. Draw me closer to You so I can know You more intimately. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”
