It doesn’t take much to get off the pavement on the road of life. We only have to be left to our own devices or listen to bad advice from friends. How much simpler would life be if we took the time to check in with the only One who knows best! God made us a tremendous promise, and He always keeps His promises. He said if we acknowledge Him, He will instruct us and make sure we are on the right road and headed toward all that He desires for us, which is ultimately what we want. How beautiful is that?
I’ve discovered that when I ignore Him I get into trouble. On those days that I pick up the pieces of my life and all my toys, cradle them in my willful arms, and decide I’m going to go my own way, it’s usually not long before I go splat in the midst of a mess. As the beautiful old hymn “What a Friend We Have in Jesus” states, “O what peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we bear, all because we do not carry everything to God in prayer.” Does this mean God is interested in every little thing in our lives? I believe it does! I think He is totally delighted when we include Him even in the mundane decisions of life, so passionate is He about having a relationship with us. In all our ways…not just some, look to Him. That’s when life gets a lot easier.
