THE KEEPING POWER OF GOD - Michelle McKinney Hammond

April 04, 2016
When his master saw that the LORD was with [Joseph] and that the LORD gave him success in everything he did, Joseph found favor in his eyes and became his attendant. Potiphar put him in charge of his household, and he entrusted to his care everything he owned.
GENESIS 39:3
The world is looking for living examples of Christ, and the presence of God should be so evident in our lives that others take notice. So how are we conducting ourselves in our day-to-day interactions? Is there a difference between us and those we work with (if they aren’t believers)? When the others are lamenting about a man shortage or other difficulties in life, do we chime in with our own complaints? Or are we exhibiting a peace about these circumstances that they can’t fathom?
“We are in the world but not of the world (John 15:19). Like Joseph, we live in an environment that is foreign to us. We have pledged allegiance to a different kingdom—God’s kingdom—and it should show. This doesn’t mean we walk around with long faces trying to look super spiritual, but there should be a difference in the way we deal with the situations that are common to everyone. We should model a peace that passes understanding and a joy in the midst of uncertainty that can only come from God. These make up the unexplainable excellence in our lives that others want.
Our responses to life and all that it throws at us gets the attention of those we encounter. A tree doesn’t pick where it is planted; it grows anyway. As we respond positively to God walking with us through the difficult places, He showers us with favor.
In what ways have you experienced God’s peace in difficult circumstances?
PRAY THIS PRAYER WITH ME:
“Dear heavenly Father, help me remember who I really serve—You! In Jesus’ name. Amen.”
