“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” - JEREMIAH 29:11
God doesn’t stop at making plans for us. He calls us to action! He wants us to cooperate with His Spirit to accomplish His will. We are His arms and heart and are called to do a mighty work for Him. No wonder the enemy of our souls vies for our attention! We will do the work of God or the work of Satan, depending on who we yield to.
And when we fall, God is faithful to forgive and reinstate us so we can get on with His work. In those moments we glorify the Father as we seek to do what honors Him most—fulfilling His purposes on earth. God lets us make His love and power manifest among the people. His crowning glory is that we reflect Him and lift Him up so that people will be drawn to Him.
Did you catch that? People will be drawn to Him. Not us. Him. “Could it be that while we’re trying to catch the eye of admirers we’re attempting to draw more attention to us than to Christ within us? That we become a distraction from what is the most beautiful part of us, which is the glory of God at home within us? When we focus on bringing God glory, He will glorify us. We get to bask in His light and be beautified by it. When we lift Him up, not only do we draw people to Him, we benefit from all they get from Him—love and life.
