“Offer yourselves as a living sacrifice to God, dedicated to His service and pleasing to Him. This is the true worship that you should offer. Do not conform yourselves to the standards of this world, but let God transform you inwardly by a complete change of mind. Then you will be able to know the will of God ….” Romans 12:1-2 (GN)
Ever wonder how you can really know the will of God for your life? You can. This verse reveals the key to unlocking the mystery of God’s will. The truth is, His will is revealed through His Word. Whenever you read the word then in Scripture, a good question to ask yourself is when? When will I be able to know the will of God? To find the answer, you need to go back to the verse and read what came before the word then.
If I am to know the will of God for my life, the Bible gives some practical steps I must take:
- Offer myself as a living sacrifice to God. (Someone said the trouble with living sacrifices is that they want to squirm off the altar.)
- Dedicate myself to God’s service.
- Do not conform myself to the standards of this world any longer. (Conformity comes from the outside to press you into a mold while transformational change comes from the inside.)
- Let God transform me inwardly by a complete change of mind.
“Then you will be able to know the will of God…”
Do you really want to know the will of God for your life? Before God reveals His will to us, He waits for us to listen. Could it be that, while we have been waiting for God to speak and show us His will, He has been waiting on us?
Has God been waiting on your commitment to offer yourself as a living sacrifice to Him? To dedicate yourself to His service? To be transformed inwardly by the truth of His Word that brings a complete change of mindset than you ever had before? Take that step today and listen to what God has to say to you in the rest of this chapter. (Romans 12)
