THE FAVOR OF GOD - Michelle McKinney Hammond
From the time [Potiphar] put [Joseph] in charge of his household and of all that he owned, the LORD blessed the household of the Egyptian because of Joseph. The blessing of the LORD was on everything Potiphar had, both in the house and in the field. - GENESIS 39:5
If you’ve found yourself in a situation where you feel that those who care nothing for God seem to have way more than you, look again. Perhaps they are being blessed for your sake. I remember working for a boss many years ago who was not a nice man. He was very wealthy and wasn’t paying what I felt I deserved for the job I was doing. He gave me a hard time and was very coarse with his language. Finally one day in frustration I put my hand on my hip and looked him squarely in the eyes. I told him I would no longer tolerate him talking to me the way he did. And just in case he wasn’t aware, he was only being blessed because I was working for him. At this he hung his head and said, “I know.” Imagine my surprise! He knew God’s hand was on my life. The Lord had given me favor to sell everything I worked on to his clients.
After I left his company, his business declined. Sometimes God is blessing others to ensure our provision. Blessings don’t always indicate God’s approval. God will bless someone so that person can favor one of His children.

We should never compare ourselves to others because we never know the end of the matter. The grass may only appear greener…so take a closer look.
What situation have you been viewing as unfair? Who have you compared yourself to and why?
PRAY THIS PRAYER WITH ME:
“Dear heavenly Father, help me stay focused on You. Keep my heart pure so that I won’t slip into judgment mode. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”
