THE PERFECT SOULMATE - Michelle McKinney Hammond

THE PERFECT SOULMATE
The LORD God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being. - GENESIS 2:7
This first encounter between God and man may explain so many things. The exchange of breath, in many ways “a kiss,” that imparted life is a spiritual exchange. In the movie Pretty Woman, the female lead refused to kiss the leading man. Her explanation was simple. If she kissed him, she would become emotionally involved. A kiss is intimate. In fact, one of the words for worship in Hebrew literally means to “kiss forward,” to kiss God in a sense. And when we do that, relationship is established.
Since that intimate, life-giving kiss between man and God, people have been searching for similar experiences. Most of the time we’re disappointed because we pursue that intimacy in human relationships. As single women, we long for love so we look to men, who can only offer imitation commitments that fall far short of what God delivers. God is our ultimate Soul Mate. His breath gives us life. God is our primary source for love and meaning. Only He fully satisfies.
Who do you turn to for love and fulfillment? Can people truly satisfy you?
PRAY THIS PRAYER WITH ME:
Dear heavenly Father, far too many times I’ve looked to others to fulfill what only You can. Please fill me with Your love and presence. Grant me occasional foretastes of our oneness in eternity to give me hope. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
