HOW TO BE CHOSEN - Michelle McKinney Hammond

The man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman’ for she was taken out of man.” - GENESIS 2:23
Before God fashioned the woman, He fashioned the man. As Adam named the animals, he was walking within the authority God gave him. He was a man practicing dominion and helping create order in the world around him. By the time Eve was presented to him, he was comfortable naming things. His ability to discern that Eve was bone of his bone and flesh of his flesh came from experience.
Notice Eve didn’t wake up Adam. Didn’t dash over and say, “Wake up, Adam! God said you are my husband.” No, she was recognized, chosen, and named by her man. Everything about Adam and Eve coming together was done in specific order.
The Bible tells us that “he who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the LORD” (Proverbs 18:22). Jesus—the perfect model of a bridegroom who chose His bride (us!), pursued, wooed, and fought to claim her—set the standard for what men are supposed to do. When a woman is chosen and named by a man, she gets security and a sense of great value.
In what ways can you show you trust God to be Matchmaker in your life?
PRAY THIS PRAYER WITH ME:
Dear heavenly Father, I know You are the master Matchmaker. I submit my heart and will to You. I
choose to wait for You to present me to the one You have chosen for me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
